If I had known that Elaine May wrote and directed "Ishtar", I would have gone to see it on the big screen. I just read that at first she guessed that the movie's bad press was fueled by the CIA - logical, considering her depiction of US/Middle East relations. Despite movie studios' interference and over-editing, her "A New Leaf" and "In the Spirit" are also amazing, wonderful, unique, hysterically funny movies.
